Coffee, young designers and sustainability
Our talented newest designer, Georgia, is just back from the sunny Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, where she was celebrating her win in the 2021 student design competition for Moccona coffee’s sustainability initiative.
The competition was open to a selection of top Australian, NZ, Asian and European design schools, giving students the opportunity to give their voice to a sustainability cause. And Georgia’s entry was one of the 6 winners!
The cause? Part of Moccona’s $100k Sustainability Fund, Moccona wanted to create a set of limited edition coffee jars to encourage customers to reuse and upcycle their jars, helping reduce waste and improving Moccona’s eco footprint.
Georgia’s winning entry – named Small Actions - illustrates the many actions that we can make in our day-to-day life to help create a positive impact on the environment. She aimed to communicate the importance of finding actions that suit your lifestyle, and how those small actions can make big change. Some examples shown on Georgia’s jar include recycling, buying sustainably, walking where possible, growing your own produce and conserving water by taking shorter showers.
Georgia was paired up with NZ organisation KiwiHarvest, New Zealand’s largest food rescue venture who are reducing the negative impacts of food waste on our environment by redistributing excess to those in need, and helping to create lasting positive social change.
Voting for Georgia’s jar ‘Small Actions’ helps KiwiHarvest receive a greater share of the $100k Moccona Sustainability Fund. So check out Georgia’s jar in-store and go out & vote!
